Iran Caught Using Criminal Gangs To Commit Terrorism In Sweden

Quasi-terrorist state Iran has been engaged in activities that pose significant security threats to Sweden for several years.

These activities have primarily targeted dissident groups and specific individuals within the Iranian diaspora. The Swedish Security Service has identified Iran, along with Russia and China, as the greatest security threats to the country.

Sweden is committed to ensuring that it is not used as a platform for security-threatening activities by Iran or any other state.

The Swedish Security Service has confirmed that similar activities are occurring in Sweden. In recent years, several planned attacks linked to Iranian security services have been thwarted. These plans often involved criminal networks acting on behalf of the Iranian regime.

The Swedish Security Service, in collaboration with the Swedish Police Authority, has taken and will continue to take measures to prevent, avert, and reduce the potential for Iran to carry out security-threatening activities in Sweden.

Iranian regime and its security services have also directed their activities against representatives of other states, including Israel, which Iran considers enemies. These activities are aimed at harming Israeli and Jewish interests, targets, and activities within Sweden.

Iran has a history of conducting violent acts in other European countries to silence critics and address perceived threats to its regime. To carry out these activities, the Iranian regime has sometimes utilized criminal networks as proxies.
